Fil-Am nurse wins NY Times' Nurse award

Congrats to Fil-Am nurse Michael Tagadaya for winning the "Tribute to Nurses Program" of the New York Times. Bringing attention to the oustanding contribution of nurses in the healthcare field in the tri-state area.

Tagadaya won for Innovation and Leadership during a simple award ceremony in Manhattan last week. Tagadaya is currently nurse manager at the New York University Langone Medical Center Hospital for Joint Diseases (NYU-HJD).

His hospital colleagues reportedly nominated him for his outstanding contribution to the healthcare field in the tri-state area. These included:

* the introduction of paddle pagers, which supposedly ease the family members’ concerns about their loved ones’ surgeries;

* the creation of new staff positions to bridge the gap between operating room and recovery room; and

* his participation in a research team whose work was recognized by the NYU-HJD.
